His heartening Ein deutsches Requiem, with words from Martin Luther's German translation of the Bible, forms the starting point for a seventeenth-century remake by Jos. Our former artistic director compiled a requiem to the words used by Brahms, with a starring role for vocal-instrumental repertoire. The result is an All Souls programme as could only be created by Jos van Veldhoven: exciting from start to finish, yet still in balance. It is a concert that offers hope to loved ones, survivors and anyone in need of comfort.
