María García Sánchez

María García Sánchez

Meet our new Fellows! The new crop of Young Bach Fellows started at the beginning of this season. We’re delighted to introduce you to: viola player María García Sánchez.

For a loyal follower of All of Bach, like the Spaniard Maria, it’s a dream come true: playing with the musicians you’ve seen so often in the videos. “The Bach Society is so legendary. Anyone who knows anything about early music knows the ensemble.” Maria first studied classical violin in Cologne, and she completed her studies in Early Music Viola and Violin this year at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. For her, the Fellowship is a wonderful opportunity to be able to work for a longer period with a professional and established early music ensemble. And the cherry on the cake is, of course, playing in an All of Bach video herself: the cantatas from the programme Bach at his finest will be recorded for All of Bach on 28 February.

Over two seasons, the Fellows will perform in several concert series by the Netherlands Bach Society. This season, Maria will be appearing in Reflect with Bach on 7 December, Bach at his finest and the St Matthew Passion.

Project that Maria is most looking forward to: the St Matthew Passion
