Natascha Pichler
The Austrian violinist Natascha Pichler is well acquainted with the Bach Society, certainly from the moment she started focusing completely on Baroque music and historical performance practice. “I follow all the projects – and All of Bach, of course.” She’s studying Early Music Violin at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, she’s taken classes with Baroque violinist Bojan Čičić in London, and alongside her Fellowship with the Bach Society she’s also taking part in a similar talent project with the renowned Baroque orchestra Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. “There are so many great projects I can learn from, as each ensemble plays in a slightly different way. At the Bach Society, I hope I can really add something and that eventually I’ll be able to play as if I were one of the core members.”
Over two seasons, the Fellows will perform in several concert series by the Netherlands Bach Society. This season, Natascha will be appearing in Reflect with Bach on 7 December, Bach at his finest and the St Matthew Passion.
Favourite composers: Haydn and Schubert, who are composers that move me personally. I feel connected to their musical idiom.
Favourite piece by Bach: the Mass in B minor. The piece is so magnificent and has so many different facets, and it pushes back the boundaries of a Mass.
