“A moving mass of the dead.“
Heinrich Schütz composed a moving mass for the passing of his landowner, which beautifully fits in the All Souls' Day tradition. These three-part “exequien”, or funeral ceremonies, were written for the funeral of the respected Count Heinrich "Posthumus" Reuss. This progressive and art-loving landowner was known for choosing the members of his royal household mainly on their musical qualities. All in all, a very suitable work for the singers of the Netherlands Bach Society, accompanied by a rich continuo.
This fall we would actually perform the Mozart Requiem. Unfortunately we had to cancel this project. The number of participating musicians is too large to fit on the stages of the concert halls with a responsible distance. Do you have tickets for the Mozart Requiem? Then we will contact you.
