Fortieth anniversary

To celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the Bach Society, a big Bach festival was organised in the autumn of 1961.

The programme included a variety of choral works, organ music and chamber music, and full performances of the four Clavier-übungs. Through this, the Bach Society wanted to show that Bach is so much more than just the St Matthew Passion.
